ARE they serious? A RAPPER? This is an insult to Jimis' memory and all Jimi fans the world over!  A rapper is the antithisis of a guitar hero like Hendix! WTF were they thinking?
I am sure there are far BETTER REAL black actors or mixed race actors that could portray Jimi Hendrix!

But a rapper...

I think he's a decent actor...maybe this will be his breakout role. Regarding rap...if Hendrix were alive today, I think he'd probably embrace all musical forms.

At the risk of offending some, (who cares) I hate all things rap and as for playing Hendrix, I though the last 2000 movie using an actor of someone who could not play was a sad parody of the typical poppy tunes which is not Hendrix for me. But this new one promises to be much worse.
I personally would rather see Rainbow Bridge (Hawaii Concert) redone in picture enhancement and sound remastered. Now that would be cool, Hey Baby, New Rising Sun, now that was Hendrix. A rap guy, really, not something I will ever see. Sorry as a guitarist for many decades and having grown up w the most iconic heavy bands in history, you could not pay me to listen to anything rap-like. I liked Rage Against the Machine but not the vocals when he does the rap thing. What is wrong with singing in this age?

You guys are loco. If you all truly love the guitar and want its beauty to spread, there is no better person for this role than someone like a rapper who will bring interest to the instrument to an audience who has largely written it off. Besides, if any ya'll knew who Andre actually was, you'd know he sings as much (or more) than he raps these days and is a multi-instrumentalist (including guitar)...not to mention having numerous film and TV credits. But alas, this fight doesn't appear to be about Andre per se...
