Class Action Lawsuit Filed Against Gibson Guitars

Wednesday, November 16, 2011| by Will Chen

As if the recent raids at Gibson guitars weren't enough (in late 2009 for illegally importing endangered woods from Madagascar and again in 2011 for incorrect declaration presumably to circumvent compliance with the Lacey Act), a class action lawsuit was filed over the summer against Gibson guitars for refusing to pay a worker for overtime hours worked in order to meet production quotas. A Jury trial has been set for Dec 11, 2012. Based on Glassdoor.com's employee survey ranking Gibson guitars as one of the worst companies in America to work for, the suit isn't much of a surprise. You can read the full case document here.
