The Edge with a JC-120?

Back in college I scored an incredible deal on an old Roland JC-120 and gigged that amp for nearly five years.  I loved the clean sounds I got out of the amp, but was having trouble finding a stomp box to pair with it for overdrive tones (this was before the flood of small makers and the proliferation of the internet). So, I sold it and have regretted it ever since.

Over the past couple months I’ve been doing a bunch of research on professional’s who have used solid state amps and darn the JC-120, it keeps taunting me appearing in rig after rig! My latest sighting was last night.  I was flipping channels about to fall asleep and stumbled upon the 1983 US Festival day 3 highlights airing on VH1 Classic. U2 was performing and The Edge’s amp’s consisted of three JC-120’s and an AC30. I’m not entirely sure how he was running them (perhaps as powered extension cabinets for the AC30) but his sound was on. So another artist is added to the list and my gas continues to grow for the one I let get away…
