Hard Times Hit Gibson

Friday, April 3, 2009| by Will Chen

Citing a 20 percent drop in musical instrument sales, Gibson Guitar Inc. announced on Friday March 20th that it was laying off 50 of their worldwide employees, about 5% of their workforce. However, on Monday March 23rd the the Nashville Post ran an article citing unidentified sources claiming the actual number of lay offs was 70.

There was no indication how many if any of the company's roughly 2,800 Nashville-based employees have been affected.

Hah!  I wonder why (just take a look at their prices) they are not selling guitars like they think they should be.  This will probably happen with Fender as well due to their absurd price hikes this year.
