NPR recently featured an excellent interview with Andy Babiuk, author of the new book Paul Bigsby: Father Of Electric Solidbody Guitar, which presents an argument (as the title suggests) that Paul Bigsby is the true inventor of the electric guitar. The interview is full of little trivial gems such as the appearance of an early Bigsby guitar in an episode of The Three Stooges and evidence that Bigsby actually built a prototype solid body guitar for Les Paul.
