Purdue University is offering two workshops this summer for aspiring luthiers.
First, the High School Guitar Workshop (June 23-26) is open to students entering the 10th, 11th, or 12th grades and will introduce guitar making techniques taught in the school’s College of Technology. The workshop is being sponsored by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Education Foundation and the D’Addario Music Foundation. The workshop registration fee is $650 which includes lodging, meals, all materials needed to complete one guitar.
The Purdue Guitar Workshop (July 6-10) features industry professionals from Purdue, Taylor Guitars and Fender Guitars and focuses on the engineering of a custom solid-body electric guitar. Registration for the workshop is $1,295 and includes all materials and supplies to build an electric guitar.
