Warner Music vs YouTube: Let the Battle Begin!

Monday, December 22, 2008| by Will Chen

The Wall Street journal reported Dec 22, 2008 that due to frustration over the lack of media revenue generated by their licensing deal, Warner Music Group began removing its songs and videos from Google Inc’s YouTube video service. Warner, Vivendi SA's Universal Music Group and Sony Corp.'s Sony BMG Music Entertainment are all in the process of renegotiating the renewal of licenses initially agreed to prior to the Google's acquisition of the video sharing site. Apparently, a big point in the failure to meet an agreement is YouTube's payment levels falling short of competitors AOL and MySpace.

They just don't get it do they? youtube is like advertising in the bag, and a lot of other businesses know this well. Its obvious that the lacking of revenue is coming from somewhere else. I think they need to kick out the pimply faced 15 year-olds who are running the show over at Warner.

They're going to have to think outside of the box, because styles like Nerdcore are tearing down the way music is sold and marketed.
