Support Hurricane Ike Disaster Relief

Saturday, September 13, 2008| by Will Chen

As you may or may not know, FrugalGuitarist.com instructor and my good friend John Dybala recently relocated to Houston. Last night, I was extremely worried about him as Ike whipped through Houston.   I was able to confirm with him this morning that he and his Houston relatives are all fine.  In our brief conversation, he stated that he’s been without power since last night around 9 PM and early reports anticipate many residents may be without power for weeks.

The extents of the damage to residents of the Texas coast is not yet known, but suffice to say there are many who will need our help.  I encourage those of you with the means to make a donation to one of the many disaster relief organizations.

In the North Texas area, the North Texas Food Bank (http://www.ntxfoodbank.org/) is accepting donations to support Ike victims. Those nationally (and internationally) can make a donation to the American Red Cross (http://www.redcross.org/), even the smallest amount can make a huge difference to those in need.

John has taken pictures of the aftermath and we'll post those along with his experiences as soon as he's able.

Thank you for your support.
